Here's how summer is looking:
Tuana: she loves the sea, hates her swimsuit. It's a body suit that pulls her arms down and annoys her. It's probably too hot too, so until we are heading to the beach - she gets pretty annoyed. Mad even. She likes going in the water. Smashing sand castles. Filling the bucket with sand or water or rocks. Covering her legs or my legs and finding our toes. She's almost asleep by the time we get back but I usually wake her to feed her and then put her asleep - but today she fell asleep in my arms on the swing while I talked to a friend. After her nap, she needs some more mom time, snuggles. After she eats, she's full of energy and performing for all of us. She is obsesses with the cats and dogs she sees and loves trying to call them or feed them. She also likes comforting her sister or brother when they are hurt. She'll take Tomris's had and walk her around to calm her down.
Tomris: She is full of giggles. She loves her Princess Anna and Elsa swimsuit. She misses Ankara and tells me everyday (her toys). She complains to her Baba on the phone that he has been gone too long. She skips her nap so cries at just about everything at some point in the day. (The "small" ice cream, wanting more milk, wanting the swing, wanting to go somewhere, do something, watch something. She is lately experimenting with calling everything stupid. She occasionally announces she's not going to cry about something (small). She looks after her sister, sometimes too much. She is obsessed with our neighbors and playing with them.
Teoman: He is growing up. He is making his bed, loving the sea, playing with friends, holding his sister Tomris's hand in the sea when she is afraid. He knows how to be polite, he tells me when I'm getting too mad. He told his sister today he wished his finger hurt because he wouldn't cry, and then hers wouldn't hurt.
Anne: She complains about it being hot or being dizzy multiple times throughout the day. She told me cutting the grass is easy. She said she'd help me in the garden but needed to watch Tuana. She loves having the grandkids around and making food for them. She is beside herself with joy watching Tuana's antics and she is Teoman's best friend.
Baba: He used to busy himself with projects around the house. Their are five bags of something sitting out by the tree by my car but since we've come here two weeks ago I haven't seen him do one project, which is somewhat worrisome. They don't check his blood sugar any more because its "fine". His appetite is back in full swing after having lost it for a while a long with his three toes. He moves from napping on the swing to napping indoors with the air conditioner on.
Me: This summer has been a bit easier as Teoman and Tomris are a bit more independent. Even Tuana's walking has made things a bit easier with her too. I sneak in a coffee in the morning, serve the kids breakfast, help clean up and lather the kids up for the beach. We spend a couple of hours there, come back do lunch, nap Tuana, then I start on house projects - laundry, gardening. It's in the high 90s, and will be above 100 this week - but Tuana's nap time is the only time to get work done - so today I was raking our garden and throwing away the weeks and debris, as well as sweeping and washing the balcony. The kids played with the neighbors, and then were quite angry with me when I said it was time to come home. I put them to bed through a lot of ordering while Tuana crawled around me, flopping down and trying to get comfortable. Tomris cried because she had pulled her bandaid off and now her finger hurt. Teoman wanted water. I read my book hoping they'd all settle down and sleep ... which they did, no thanks to me.
Mornings are always better. Nights I kind of feel like a failure.
