The past year was relatively uneventful. Yet, it was full of daily events. Tomris learning to crawl, walk, and then speak. She learned how to do the scooter and says many words in Turkish and English. Teoman has begun remembering things, and asking for them again. We did some improvements on the Kusadasi home. We didn't move, we didn't change jobs. We didn't have a baby or become pregnant (the story of the past three years).
Teoman wakes up in the night and whispers for us - "Baba... Mama..." in order to not wake his sister. Tomris comments when anybody is sleeping. In Turkish and English.
Teoman doesn't really like to eat meat or vegetables. He loves bread and cheese and yogurt and juice. Tomris eats most everything. She loves frozen peas. And chocolate. They both do .. but Tomris can smell it on my breath and will open my mouth to check. I'm still nursing Tomris. Teoman is still in diapers.
We got them a trampoline for Christmas, which they love. Teoman has a bike too - but its too big for him. They both love french fries and chips... but who doesn't. They kiss everybody goodnight and brush their teeth most nights. They wait for their treats and love to watch Winnie the Pooh or Paw Patrol.
Our New Years was spent at the house. We've been meaning to make a trip to Istanbul, but we didn't because of the weather and my father-in-law, and we just never really got on top of that plan. Tolga's father has deteriorated over the past month. Seeing bugs or fleas and believing they are eating his feet and getting in his nose. On Christmas he didn't recognize his wife - thinking she was a teacher and telling her the story of his family. Anne got sick that night and threw up dinner. Gokhan lost his job last week - or rather was laid off.
I had a bad headache New Years so I couldn't really celebrate. I went to bed and Tolga woke me up at eleven. I joined the family to play tombola, a bit like bingo. We watched fireworks from our window as they sprinkled themselves around the city. Nothing spectacular, just communities or individuals setting them off to bring in the new year. Teoman woke up and joined us for the last round of Tombola.
And I have my New Year's goals. I never have any shortage of goals:
1) Blog everyday
2) Make some iMovie's of the pictures.
3) exercise more ... maybe get an eliptical machine
4) be more patient, loving and gracious
5) be more organized with our finances/budget/goals in general
I'm sure I have many more goals - it's hard to follow through on these, but I hope to grow and be a better mother, wife, and in-law.
Anyhow, I've accomplished goal one for now. I did some writing.
