| my perfectly layered latte |
Tuana is still our happy girl, talking more an more these days... especially to me. She sees me in the mornings and smiles and coos the most beautiful sounds. She still cries (which elevates sometimes to a terrified scream) when I bathe her which stresses and worries me (am I traumatizing her?) and I'm trying to find a way to ease her through this - but other than bath time and gas pain and being tired or hungry or poopy or wet - she's happy.
Tomris on the other hand has a day full of mountains and valleys. She is my girl, sitting on my lap, loving her sister and brother and uncle and toys. And then she is crying because she can't get her pants on, because abi isn't playing with her, because she wants Babanne, or anything that's the opposite of what I/we told her. They were both overtired today after our big day out yesterday. While it was another beautiful day ... we never did make it out.

| being initiated into the game of Turks . . . okay, not really, they are just taking turns tossing the dice. |
Instead, Baba and Gokhan were packing their bags to go to take a ten-hour ride to Kusadasi tonight. Anne will stay here with us (thankfully!) and we will join them a couple of weeks later. Tolga had bought some sea bass and I slathered it with salt, pepper, garlic and oil while my Anne prepared the salad.
Everyone ate while Tolga separated the meat from the fish bones of his to give to the kids. No one else even offered to share their food with the kids this time, which was odd as everyone did last time we had fish. Baba asked for Anne to heat up rice to go with his fish that he'd already started into, but Tolga told him no - the food was on the table and we were all just sitting to eat. (Baba can't help himself, he gets a bit single-minded when it comes to food especially, but he doesn't mind when Tolga stops him). So then Baba asked for one piece of bread, and then another, and then a third. Gokhan had bought cola - sugar free because Baba always asks for it when he sees it. "Az" he says, just a little. And then after guzzling it down and eating, a little bit later - just a little bit more. Anne says no, and a little bit later he tells Gokhan to give him - just a little bit more.
Last spring when they went to Kusdasi Baba lost four toes on his right foot do to constant high blood sugar and compromised circulation, among other things. I hope it doesn't happen again...
