weekends in the park

Most times on the weekend, especially when Tolga is away - I like to fill our morning with an activity outside - and around food.  Like coffee / simit - park.  Or park and then lunch outside.  We had spotted a new park near our home the other day while out - and loaded up the double stroller, crossed the busy road, and headed down the boulevard.  The park was just off the main road - new and well built - which I'm finding more and more over the past years - playgrounds are more child friendly.  This one had a rubber ground, a fence to keep the kids in, a medium-sized playground, a big scary climbing apparatus, and some kid size exercise equipment.  I don't remember these kinds of fitness equipment in America - but they are very big here.  Fitness equipment that I guess is simply for focused movement, because you can't really call it weight, and you hardly even use your own weight.  The sun beats strong in Ankara, and the trees around the park were too young to offer shade - so the place will be much less appealing in the summertime.  We headed back at lunchtime and stopped for fast-food and ice-cream.  The kids were tired and went to their own beds and fell right asleep.  It was a-maz-ing.
